How to Calculate CBM for Sea Freight
Published on 2026-06-30
CBM (Cubic Meter) is the standard unit used to measure the volume of your cargo for sea freight (LCL) shipments.
To calculate CBM, multiply the length, width and height of your package in meters: CBM = Length (m) × Width (m) × Height (m).
For multiple boxes, calculate the CBM of one box and multiply by the number of boxes. Carriers charge whichever is greater between the actual volume (CBM) and the volumetric weight.
